Hi, I'm Alan. I help people think it through properly — so they make the right moves, not the expensive ones. One-on-one. No frameworks. No proposals. Just an honest conversation.
You have a business idea — maybe you've had it for a while. But every time you try to move forward, something stops you. Too many options, too much noise, not enough clarity on whether this thing will actually work.
You're already in it. The business is running, but something feels off. You're doing the work, making the decisions — but you're not sure you're making the right ones. And there's no one to sense-check with who actually gets it.
You're in a business — not your own — and you can see exactly where AI could change how your team works. You just need someone to cut through the hype and show you what's actually worth doing.
That's what Rework is for. One person. One conversation. No agenda except helping you think it through properly.
Not sure which one fits? Start with a free Clarity Session and we'll figure it out together.
You know AI is relevant. You're just not sure what fits your business or what's noise. One session — your business, practical tools, clear priorities. No jargon.
Learn more →Your business is running but something feels wrong. Too complex, too busy, too far from where you wanted to be. One honest session to strip back the noise and find the path forward.
Learn more →Good work but not enough clients. Inconsistent months. Hate selling. One session to find exactly where the problem is and what to fix first.
Learn more →Stuck or going in circles. One session to unblock you and get you moving.
Learn more →I was told the same thing you were.
Go to school. Get a degree. Get a job. Work until pension.
I did. And something in me never quite fitted — the structure, the politics, the ceiling.
So I left. I started my own businesses — platforms, marketplaces, staffing. I made mistakes. I learned what works and what doesn't.
Now I help others do the same — take the jump, build something real, and create a life that actually belongs to them.
That's what Rework is. Not a consultancy. A thinking partner who's already walked the path.
A business should create freedom, not pressure.
People need guidance, not more information.
The conventional path isn't the only path.
Good early decisions matter more than hard work later.
Not ready to book yet? That's fine. Start here — and you'll know when the time is right.

Advisor, builder, connector. Someone who left the conventional path and now helps others do the same.
I started my career as a software engineer — writing code, building systems, leading development teams. Over the years I moved into UX and Service Design, then into heading departments and leading cross-functional teams at companies where I saw firsthand how good people make poor business decisions — not from lack of effort, but from lack of clarity.
I was good at the conventional path. I climbed it. But something in me never quite fitted the structure of it — the politics, the slow pace, the ceiling. So I left and started my own businesses.
I built in platforms and marketplaces, in staffing and connections, and across early-stage ventures. I made mistakes. I learned what works and what doesn't. And I developed a strong point of view about how businesses should be built: simply, practically, with freedom as the goal.
Rework came from watching too many founders — smart, motivated people — build in the wrong direction because no one helped them think clearly at the start. I wanted to be that second mind. Not a consultant with a proposal and a framework. A thinking partner with real experience and no agenda other than helping you figure it out.
Through DNA Business, I connect founders and business owners to the right people — partners, experts, collaborators, investors. Through ClearShift, I connect establishments to the professionals they need. And through Rework, I sit alongside people as they build.
I'm based in Cape Town but work globally. The problems I help with don't have a geography.
These aren't platitudes. They're the things I've learned the hard way — and the lens through which every conversation is had.
Most businesses are overcomplicated.
The best ones are simple, focused, and built around what actually matters.
Good early decisions beat hard work later.
Most founders don't fail from effort — they fail from poor assumptions made at the start.
A business should create freedom, not pressure.
If it owns you instead of the other way around, something's wrong.
Technology is a tool, not an identity.
AI is changing how small businesses operate. But only if it's applied to real problems, in practical ways, without the jargon. That's the only way I use it — and the only way I recommend it.
People need guidance, not more information.
The internet has enough content. What most founders need is clarity and a second mind.
The conventional path isn't the only path.
School, job, pension — it works for some. But for others, there's a different way to build a life.
The safe road was there. I was good at it. I even climbed it for a while. Then I jumped off — and I'd do it again every time.

Every engagement is different because every business is different. Here's what each conversation looks like — and what you walk away with.
Most businesses are using AI lightly — emails, basic questions — and leaving most of the value untouched. One focused session to find exactly where AI can save you time and money. No jargon. No hype.
Book a Clarity Session →A written AI Action Plan — plain language, ready to use. AI opportunities in priority order, specific tool recommendations, and exactly what to ignore.
Your business is running but it's harder than it should be. Too complex, too busy, too far from where you wanted to be. One honest session to strip back the noise and find the clearest path forward.
Book a Clarity Session →A written summary — what to stop, what to change, and 3 clear next steps. Not a new plan. Not a framework. Clarity on what actually needs to change.
Most small business owners don't have a sales problem — they have a clarity problem. One session to find exactly where the problem is and what to fix first.
Book a Clarity Session →A written summary — who your best client actually is, what to say, and 3 clear next steps to get more clients more consistently. Simple. Practical. No big team or budget required.
You're stuck. Going in circles. Or facing a decision you can't quite land on. This is a single focused conversation that cuts through the fog and gets you moving.
Book a Clarity Session →A single, clear decision. Not ideas. Not options. One direction — what to do, what not to do, and what matters right now.
An ongoing relationship for business owners who want a trusted outside perspective as they build. Not a consultant. Not a coach. Someone who thinks alongside you — consistently.
Book a Clarity Session →Ongoing clarity, better decisions, and fewer costly mistakes over time. Someone who challenges your thinking, helps you move faster, and course-corrects before problems compound.

Most founders build too much, too fast, in the wrong direction. Early-stage thinking is about making good decisions before the business starts — so you're not undoing them six months in.
Book a Clarity Session →A simpler, more viable way to start — without overbuilding or overcomplicating. Specifically: what assumptions to test first, what to ignore for now, and the simplest version of your idea that could actually work.
Still employed. Still thinking. You know something needs to change — but you're not sure if now is the right time, or if you're the right person to do it. This is the thinking partner for that decision.
Book a Clarity Session →A clear, confident decision about whether to stay, leave, or prepare — and a path forward. Not motivation. Not hype. A grounded answer and the next step to take.
